One photo a day until I meet Jonathan Harris meetingjonathanharris@gmail.com

21st March

A willow tree (Salix × Sepulcralis) on the first 'official' day of spring.

These days this is a popular spot for lovers to take a romantic walk at sunset, but back in the middle ages it was a popular spot for burning people alive.

I wonder if there was a similar hint of spring in the air on the 18th of March 1314, almost exactly 696 years ago.

That's the day when they burnt Jacques de Molay to death, possibly right on the spot I was standing.

It's lucky the french don't believe in ghosts.
